โฆ Synopsis
It is suggested that the theories of Schurr and Booth, respectivciy. overestimate and underestimate the electrolyte friction. The Navier-Stokes equation employed by Booth takes no account of dielectric friction on the small ions, or other non-hydrodynamic dissipative processes, so overestimates the hydrodynamic couplm~ between the charzed ion-atmosphere and the polyion. Pertinent esperimental data are briefly revicwcd.
