✦ Synopsis


We would like to thank Dr. Jones for his clarification of the burning rate of the two flames presented in our paper. Our conclusion is that he has simply verified the result that was stated in the paper, i.e., that the burning velocity of the CH,/O, flame is higher than the CH,/N,O flame. The differences, if there are any, arise from the interpretation of the term burning velocity. Since both flames are stabilized on the same burner with the same unreacted gas velocity, the two flames obviously have the same burning rate, as was pointed out in Dr. Jones' Comment. However,
