✦ Synopsis
We agree with the observations of Wybourne regarding the inherent inefficiency of the algorithm we used in WBase to reduce tensor products of Lie algebra representations , and that the S-function method indicated in [1] is more suitable to perform this task, especially for high-dimensional representations.
The goals of WBase were, however, more that of demonstrating the convenience of object-oriented, structured C programming techniques applied to a non-trivial group theory problem than that of developing a fast and complete program to compete against more mature products already present, as is SCHUR (see ).
We would also like to stress that WBase is a short program, under 1000 lines of source code, and this would not be made possible without using the weight space method which permits a concise and unified treatment of all simple Lie algebras.
