✦ Synopsis

anomalously low latent heat of fusion' [l] of common lead would have been enthusiastically investigated long ago. Similarly, the entropic and lattice order ideas of the paper [l] have yet to find theoretical or experimental support. Rather than consider exotic non-Ockham theories, it is more profitable to suggest a range of control experiments. The experimental incubator or its atmosphere could have been faulty and the 'control' incubator (in a different building) good. Measurements of temperature, CO,, etc. fluctuations would help here. There are many other controls which should be considered.

Many of the above comments are also relevant to other papers cited by the authors on the effects of a lead mass [7], and of ice [S], and other action at a distance [9].
