Records of other exceptionally high monthly rainfall totals are difficult to assemble, but other extremes fall well short of 1400mm. The highest monthly totals known to us are listed in Table 1.

We therefore suggest that the Llyn Llydaw 'record' for October 1909 be discarded as inaccurate, and that the more reliable assessment of 1430mm at Styhead for the calendar month of November 2009 take its place as -by some margin -the
