โœฆ Synopsis

Effective balloon aortic valvuloplasty (BAY) is limited by restenosis. After aortic valve restenosis six patients underwent repeat BAV. In spite of the use of larger balloons there was a trend toward a less satisfactory result after repeat BAV (0.98 2 .26 cm2 vs. 1.2 -c .26 cm2), which did not reach statistical significance, P = .14. Mortality of the patients at 6 months was 50%. Repeat BAV may be less efficacious than the original procedure.

## Abstract Calcific aortic stenosis remains a major cause of mortality and morbidity in the aging population. Surgical replacement remains the treatment of choice for this disease. Balloon aortic valvuloplasty was introduced as a palliative procedure for these patients, but was tempered by a high
