✦ Synopsis
Kyocera's KC167G d.Blue module produces 167 W of maximum power (7.2 A, 23.2 V under standard test conditions) in a form factor of 50.8 × 39 × 1.4 inches (129 × 99 × 3.6 cm) -the same size as the company's conventional 158 W KC158G panel. The new KC125G d.Blue module produces 125 W of maximum power (7.2 A, 17.4 V under standard test conditions) in a form factor of 56 × 25.7 × 2.0 inches (142 × 65 × 5 cm), the same size as the conventional 120 W module, the KC120-1.
Both d.Blue modules feature 'quick connect' output cables, and a heavy-duty box-style dark anodized aluminum frame. They are covered by Kyocera's 25-year power output warranty, are UL-listed, and are approved by the California Energy Commission for its rebate program.
Sold exclusively through a network of Kyoceraauthorized dealers and contractors, the new d.Blue modules are ideal for all types of residential and commercial buildings. The dark blue cells and black module frames allow a d.Blue system to blend visually with a building's architecture while producing energy at increased efficiencies.

DOE award to ECD for PV cost reduction
US-based Energy Conversion Devices (ECD) has been awarded a subcontract by the US Department of Energy's National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) to develop new solar cell technology.
The contract will provide matching funds for R&D aimed at lowering the manufacturing cost of solar cells. NREL will fund about $3m of the approximately $6m three-year phased sub contract, with ECD providing the balance.
United Solar Systems Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary of ECD, operates the world's only advanced production machine for manufacturing thin-film amorphous silicon alloy solar cells and related products that convert sunlight to electricity.
The research program will concentrate on developing online diagnostic systems for monitoring, closed loop control, and eventual continuous online optimization of the 30 MW PV manufacturing line. All future manufacturing lines will benefit from this technology, resulting in more rapid startup and commissioning, higher yield, and lower cost of production.
