Ultrahigh molecular weight polyethylene (UHMW-PE) has been grafted with acrylonitrile using gamma radiation. The graft yield of the monomer was controlled by the proper choice of radiation dose and monomer concentration. The grafted chopped fibers were introduced in polychloroprene (CR) rubber mixes
