ANNOUNCEMENT Reminiscence Database FLEXIBLE DATABASE CONCERNING THE THEORY AND PRACTICE OF REMINISCENCE
The use of filing cards as a data base for an article or thesis or book is obviously highly inefficient. Workers in the rapidly expanding field of reminiscence need access to the main references but also need to be able to add references relating to their own interest.
Dr. Mike Bender, Consultant Psychologist, first author of Groupwork with the Elderly and an expert in reminiscence work, over the last three years has been collating reminiscence references from literature searches, correspondence with other social scientists and updates from authors. From this information a database was produced by Tim Ley.
The database lists over 500 articles concerned with reminiscence by author, title, publication, year, volume and page number. It then codes each article by as many of the following codes as are relevant: theoretical 1 practical / how to / background ideas / review articles / validation 1 oral history / reality orientation /mental handicap / other I query.
The database is regularly updated.
