✦ Synopsis

Luttinger has given a derivation of Kubo's static conductivity formula in a famous paper some thirty years ago. In a subsequent analysis to obtain the Einstein relation, he introduced an assumption. We show that this assumption is not Consistent with linear response theory, on the basis of which the conductivity formula is derived. This inconsistency can be removed. At the same time, one can extend Luttinger's treatment to include the dynamic conductivity. This generalization is allowed by the recurrence relations method, which solves the Heisenberg equation of motion formally as well as explicitly.

As application we obtain a criterion for the operator-norm convergence of the Trotter product formula on Banach spaces with

The paper presents the non-singular forms of Green's formula and its normal derivative of exterior problems for three-dimensional Laplace's equation. The main advantage of these modi"ed formulations is that they are amenable to solution by directly using quadrature formulas. Thus, the conventional b
