โฆ Synopsis
The Mass Transit Railway Corporation (MTRC) is in the process of replacing its two existing centralized power and environmental SCADA systems and combining them into a single integrated SCADA system with a distributed architecture. As part of this replacement project, the existing dedicated point-to-point communication links to the remote terminal units will be replaced with an FDDI WAN. An objective of this replacement project is to improve the overall reliability of the control system.
This paper presents a system reliability analysis demonstrating the reliability improvement gained by this replacement project. The analysis covers all the major components of the control system, including the SCADA system, the communication network, the remote terminal units and the power system. ยฉ1998 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
