✦ Synopsis

A detailed study of the relaxation phenomena in polyethylene with the structural relaxation method (heat capacity) and mechanical relaxation (inner friction) in a wide temperature range leads to the conclusion about the existence of four @-relaxation transitions, three a-transitions, and three A-transitions. I t is shown that the glass transition temperature of polyethylene lies within the region of about -9OOC. This value is discussed in connection with other glass transition temperatures given in the literature.
