The copula of a bivariate distribution, constructed by making marginal transformations of each component, captures all the information in the bivariate distribution about the dependence between two variables. ' We investigate the relative performances ot a class of goodneae of fit procedures for randomly censored data. For purposes of planning experiments. we quantify the loes of information induced by censorship. We evaluate efficiencies against particular altemativea of intereat in survival studies, as the amount of censorship increasee. We caution against attributing various power and efficiency propertiea of the goodneee of fit criteria that are obtained under no censorship to situations W h e r e the censorship is far from negligible.

Recent work has shown that there may be disadvantages in the use of the chi-square-like goodness-of-fit tests for the logistic regression model proposed by Hosmer and Lemeshow that use fixed groups of the estimated probabilities. A particular concern with these grouping strategies based on estimated
A comparison is made between two approaches to testing goodness of fit of Cox's regression model for survival data. The first approach is based on the inclusion of time dependent covariates, whereas the second one is based on the autocovariance of successive contributions to the derivative of the lo
## Abstract The exact generalization of GEHAN's (1965) twoβsample test for arbitrarily censored survival data has been overlooked by subsequent work on the multisample problem. We give this general covariance matrix and show how it may be used in test procedures. While this permutation test is less
