โœฆ Synopsis

The relative diffusion coefficients and activation energies for the transport of silver species in A&NbSs (0 -z x -z 0.06) and Ag,TiSz_, (0 < x < 0.1 and y = O-0.2) have been studied with solid-state electrochemical cells. At very low levels of intercalation, the chemical diffusion coefficients decrease rapidly with increasing x. Thereafter the diffusion coefficients rise slowly with intercalation level up to the limit of the investigation. The effects found at low x cannot be explained in terms of the thermodynamic enhancement factor as previously thought, and are considered to be due to crystal edge or surface effects.
