✦ Synopsis
Unoriented specimens of isotactic paracrystaIline polypropylene were annealed at various temperatures until completely transformed into the monoclinic crystal form. Their X-ray diffraction patterns were examined by the technique of radial atomic distribution analysis. The results are correlated with an essentially intramolecular mechanism for transformation which seems to be very probable and to provide a basis for further consideration of the lateral packing of the chains during the transformation and afterwards.
