Based on primary amino acid sequence comparisons with other phosphoglucomutases, 12 conserved residues in the Acetobacter xylinum phosphoglucomutase (CelB) were substituted by site-directed mutagenesis, resulting in mutant enzymes with K cat values [glucose-1phosphate (G-1-P) to glucose-6-phosphate]

✦ Synopsis
The bactericidal activities of isomeric trifluoromethylphenols against Estherichiu c d i were found to be in the order: m > p > 0. These activities are related to the partition coefficients of the compounds between polar organic phases and aqueous buffer and these, in turn, are related to hydrogen bonding and polar characteristics.
