The bactericidal activities of isomeric trifluoromethylphenols against Estherichiu c d i were found to be in the order: m > p > 0. These activities are related to the partition coefficients of the compounds between polar organic phases and aqueous buffer and these, in turn, are related to hydrogen bonding and polar characteristics.
