✦ Synopsis

The reaction of cyclic ketene acetals with methanol gave the corresponding cyclic orthoacetates in fairly good yield. The linear relationship between their reaction rates and lH or 13C NMR chemical shifts of unsaturated methylene groups was obtained from the kinetic studies.
