Thisstudy examined therelationship between humor appreciation and self-perceptions of highschool guidance counselors. Results indicated thathumor appreciation was unrelated toself-perceived counselor effectiveness, and that male and female counselors enjoyed similar types of humor. Counselors described theirhumor preferences as being extroverted, realistic, intelligent, and enjoying lighthearted andoffbeat humor. Finally, counselors with more education perceived themselves as havingless of a sense of humor.
