✦ Synopsis

Values of Richardson number (Ri) and the wind profile curvature @I) in the atmospheric surface layer are evaluated from experimental data. The relationship between Ri and p shows some scatter, but gives agreement with the theoretical relation derived by Businger et al. (1971).

The characterisation of natural shapes is often attempted using fractal geometry. As many physical surfaces are created by random processes, the technique has found use in tribology, in characterisation of rough surfaces and particles. There is a multitude of techniques that can be used to calculate

## Abstract Contrary to the number‐magnitude relation, the number‐angular diameter relation is influenced by the luminosity function. The number‐diameter counts by DODD __et al.__ (1975) are in agreement with the normal luminosity function and a homogeneous space distribution without a local densit
