✦ Synopsis
ONE FIOURE
When the apical and basal ends of the isolated stem of the hydroid Obelia are placed in the same concentration of cyanide, the electric polarity of the stem as a whole decreases and may be temporarily reversed. On the basis of many facts, this result was interpreted to mean that the value of El$, across the ecto-endoderm of the apical electropositive end is reduced more than the value of EEp across the ecto-endoderm of the basal end of the stem (Lund, '36).
