A multidimensionally coupled screening system based on reversed-phase high performance liquid chromatographyhormal-phase automated multiple development with ultra violet and mass spectral detection has been further improved regarding the achievable peak capacity. This optimized method was used to reinvestigate the phytochemistry of Amaryllis be2ladonna and led to the identification of nine additional alkaloids, namely anhydrolycorin-7-one, 6-OH-buphanisine, 6-OH-crinine, crinine, galanthine, hippadine, ismine, pratorimine and pratosine which are described for the first time in the title plant.
