✦ Synopsis

The 'Reintegration with Duos'/( RWD)-study aims to promote investigations in the field of cardiac rehabilitation (defined as 'ambulatory after-care following myocardial infarction') by examining:

-the role of self-care activating support by and for myocardial infarction (MI) patients and their partners; -exploration of the interface between the professional and the self-care health system (this includes self-help and mutual aid); -an integrated approach to somatic and psychosocial problems, using 'duo formula' group treatment in groups composed of patients and their partners-at-home.

These groups are led by a physician and an expatient (a post-MI patient) who have been trained together in cooperative mutual learning methods. The groups meet during 10 weekly sessions of 2 h each.
