## Abstract Arrested __Saccharomyces cerevisiae__ cells initiate the cell cycle in an asynchronous mode. The asynchronous manner of cycle initiation generates variability in cell‐cycle times of individual cells. Limiting concentrations of adenine, methionine or histidine regulate the rate of cycle
