Abstract

The background integral in the Regge representation of the elastic scattering amplitude, neglected in the works of ERICSON, INOPIN, and HΓ–GAASEN, is calculated explicitly and found to have contributions from poles in the right and left hand γ‐plane. Using a Wood‐Saxon form for the scattering coefficients, this modified representation yields better oscillatory diffraction patterns.

The diffraction scattering of spin zero nuclei was considered in Regge pole representation. The second pair of pole in the complex 2-plane was found to affect the small angle, scattering. This can be shown in the analysis of a-particle scattering on the nuclei Mgz4, Zns4 and S P . The scattering of

The Beth-Uhlenbeck formula is rederived using the notion of symmetrized and anti-symmetrized partition function introduced by Lee and Yang. By applying the method of complex angular momentum the summation of the phase shifts appearing in the formula is converted into an integral form. Consequently,
