The absolute rate constant for the reaction of phenyl radical with acetylene has been measured at 20 torr total pressure in the temperature range of 297 to 523 K using the cavity-ring-down technique. These new kinetic data could be quantitatively correlated with the data obtained earlier with a rela

Abstract
A rate constant for the reaction of NO~3~ with propene has been determined by an absolute rate technique at room temperature and atmospheric pressure. Experiments were performed in a Pyrex photoreactor coupled to two multiple reflection optical systems interfaced to a FTIR spectrometer and a UVβvisible grating spectrometer. These two spectrometric devices allowed us a timeβresolved monitoring of propene and NO~3~ radicals. We propose the following rate constant: k = (6.4 Β± l.l) Γ l0^β15^ cm^3^ molecule^β1^ s^β1^. This value is in good agreement with three published values but is about 30% lower than three other determinations and than the value recommended by frequently used bibliographic evaluations. As propene has been widely used as a reference compound in many other kinetic studies, implications of this reevaluation are briefly discussed. Β© 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The rate of the reaction (1) NO + HOz + OH + NO2 was determined in an isothermal discharge flow reactor with a combined ESR-LMR detection under pseudo-first-order conditions in HOz. The rate constant was identical in experiments with two different HOn sources: F + H202 and H + 0 2 + M. The absolute

## Abstract A method is proposed whereby the orders and rate constants for processes obeying the rate law β__dA__/__dt__ = __kA__^n^ may be determined. The method is illustrated in two ways. First, simulated data for processes of various orders are treated, and the treatment is shown to be capable
