The reduction of (+)-camphor using Li, Na, and K in THF with sonication reported. These reductions give the same results as those obtained in NH3. The mechanism these reactions is discussed.

A black-blue solution of potassium and dicyclohexyl-18-crown-6 in toluene or diglyme has been proved to be effective in the reductive cleavage of the unactivated carbon-fluorine bond. Cyclic polyethers are known to form stable complexes with various salts and,
Electrolysis of a series of terminal allenic ketones, e.g. ( 4), (61, and ( 13) is shown to result in reductive cyclisation, through the exo-mode, producing five-membered rings, s. (5), (71, and ( 14) incorporating a bridgehead hydroxyl group.
