โœฆ Synopsis

Abstract

An analysis of clothing material for reducing RF energy absorption in a humanโ€head model has been studied using the finiteโ€difference timeโ€domain (FDTD) method. The local maximum specific absorption ratio (SAR) induced in the human head model is used for the evaluation of the clothing material's shielding effectiveness for EM exposure. It is found that clothing material with a dielectric constant close to that of human skin will induce higher RF energy absorption in the humanโ€head model. On the other hand, clothing material with a higher relative dielectric constant and permeability can greatly reduce RF energy absorption. If the clothing material is mixed with conducting materials or magnetic materials, a remarkable reduction of RF energy absorption in the humanโ€head model will be obtained. These preliminary results provide valuable knowledge to help in the manufacture of antiโ€electromagnetic wave clothing. ยฉ 2003 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Specific absorption rate (SAR) was measured in models of the human head exposed to hand-held portable radios ("transceivers") transmitting at frequencies in the 800-MHz band. An isotropic implantable electric-field probe was used to measure internal fields induced in the head models, and SARs were d

Although many studies on the biological effects of electromagnetic waves have been reported, there are few reports on protection of the human body against EM waves. In this paper, we consider a situation where a person is exposed to a plane wave (TM wave) with a frequency of 300 MHz (resonant frequ

Localized and averaged specific absorption rates (SARs) were obtained in a full-size muscle-equivalent human model exposed to near-field 29.9 MHz irradiation at an outdoor facility. The model was positioned erect on a metallic groundplane I .22 m (4 ft) from the base of a 10.8-m (35 ft) whip antenna
