Immunoreactive serum erythropoietin (EPO) was measured in anemic and non-anemic patients with acquired non-severe aplastic anemia (AA; n = 22) and myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS; n = 31) receiving or not androgens to examine the effect of androgen therapy and anemia on EPO levels in these disorders.

## Abstract The pathogenic role of immuneβmediated mechanisms in chronic hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection has not yet been elucidated. In this study, we report different cytokine expression profiles from hemodialysis (HD) and nonβHD HCV (+) patients. ILβ1Ξ², ILβ2, ILβ4, ILβ6, TNFβΞ±, and TGFβΞ²1 seru
Nitric oxide derived from vascular endothelium is a potent vasodilator that plays a key role in the homeostasis of blood pressure. Because cirrhotic patients tend to have low arterial pressure, we measured in 51 patients and 10 control subjects serum nitrite and nitrate levels as an index of in uiuo
We read with great interest the recent work by Petta et al. suggesting serum levels of retinol-binding protein 4 (RBP4) as a marker for the degree of steatosis in patients infected with hepatitis C virus (HCV). 1 RBP4 has provoked exceptional attention because it has been linked to the pathogenesis
