Pyridinium salts undergo copper catalysed reduction in the presence of ascorbic acid. This system can be used for cationic ring opening polymerizations. The cationic polymerization of cyclohexene oxide, was studied using pyridinium salt/ascorbate redox couple.

The kinetics of aqueous polymerization of acrylonitrile initiated by peroxomonosulphate-Co(II) redox system have been investigated in the range 30-50°C under nitrogen at a fixed ionic strength of 0.30mol-dm -3. The overall rate of polymerization, followed gravimetrically, was found to be proportiona
