✦ Synopsis

The crystal structure of title compound, K 2 [Mo 2 O 5 (C 2 O 4 ) 2 -(H 2 O) 2 ], originally determined by Cotton, Morehouse & Wood [(1964). Inorg. Chem. pp. 1603-1608], has been redetermined to higher precision and the hydrogen-bonding network elucidated. The anionic [Mo 2 O 5 (C 2 O 4 ) 2 (H 2 O) 2 ] 2À complex ion is centrosymmetric with the 2 -bridging O atom located at the inversion centre.

Both the cation and anion in the title compound, [Mg(H 2 O) 6 ][Mo 2 O 5 (C 6 H 7 NO 6 ) 2 ]Á6H 2 O, lie on centers of symmetry, and their metals are both six-coordinate in octahedral environments.
