This hypothesis is in many ways more attractive than the principal alternative, put forward by Ivanoff (1898) and Meyer (1909). These authors suggested that the aberrant tissue has its origin in abnormal differentiation of ccelomic epithelium, but there is no overwhelming evidence in favour of either view. SUMMARY A case of an isolated endometrioma of the caecum causing an intussusception is described.
