The company was able to enhance productivity and opportunities for cost reduction, drawing on its expertise which ranges from product refinement to quality control. Kaneka has set up a unit at its Takasago facility in Hyogo that is scheduled to go into full-scale production soon. The firm is highlighting the biosurfactant as an ideal surfactant for applications in cosmetics and toiletry products.

A 40,000 tonne/y linear alkyl benzene (LAB) plant is being built near Damascus, Syria, by Daaboul Detergents. The facility was partially constructed in Bulgaria in the 1980s, but was never finished. The plant is being upgraded and rebuilt in Syria by Ballestra of Italy.
