Kaneka took over Showa Denko's proprietary process for biosurfactant production in Jun 2009. The company was able to enhance productivity and opportunities for cost reduction, drawing on its expertise which ranges from product refinement to quality control. Kaneka has set up a unit at its Takasago facility in Hyogo that is scheduled to go into full-scale production soon. The firm is highlighting the biosurfactant as an ideal surfactant for applications in cosmetics and toiletry products.
