## Abstract Since regional thoracic irradiation involves the thymus, as well as lung tissue, inhibition of urethan lung adenomagenesis by thoracic irradiation might be mediated by radiation damage to the thymus. This paper reports experiments which show that lung tumor induction is not inhibited by

✦ Synopsis
Abstract
Male (C~2~HfBiHe x Alele)F~1~ mice irradiated with 500 R 24 h prior to urethan treatment developed fewer lung adenomas than non‐irradiated, urethan‐treated mice. When irradiation was given two weeks before irrethan treatment, adenoma incidence was the some as in non‐irradiaetd controls, suggesting recovery fromthe tumorinhibitory effrect of radiation. The recovery was not prevented by thymectomy prior to irradiation.
Irradiation of female (C~3~HfBiHe × AjHe)F~1~ mice with 500 R did no significantly reduce the numver of adenomas induced by urethan.
