β¦ Synopsis
A 57-year-old man was referred for T3N2a squamous cell carcinoma of the pyriform sinus with extention to the posterior pharyngeal wall. Surgical resection includes a laryngectomy and partial pharyngectomy, such that a 2-cm strip of posterior pharyngeal wall remains. The reconstructive goals are rapid healing, timely administration of radiotherapy, and reestablishment of swallowing function.
