✦ Synopsis

Recombination rate constants of N: +e-and N: t e-in atmospheric pressure nitrogen at ambient temperature have been measured to be (4.6kO.9) x lam6 and (3.7f0.7) x lo-' cm3 s-l, respectively. Pressure dependence of these rate constants has been examined in a pressure range between 760 and 1315 Ton; and both decreased with the increase of pressure. The pressure dependence of rate constants was discussed in terms of the diffusion-controlled mechanism and two and three body mechanisms.

## Abstract Raman scattering from metastable excited nitrogen molecules N~2~(A^3^Ξ£u^+^) created by an impulse discharge in nitrogen at atmospheric pressure was detected. A pulsed Nd:YAG laser at a wavelength of 266 nm was used as the light source, and Raman scattering from N~2~(A^3^Ξ£u^+^) at a wave
