Visible emission which is generated when Hz is added to partially dissochted Fz is found to b-z due to 4u = 4,5, and 6 transitions of HF(X). The temporal and stoic,hiometric dependence of this emission strongly suggests that it results from d?ect combination of hydrogen and fluorine atoms and/or from recombination of hydrogen atoms with subsequent transfer of vibrations! ener_ey from Hz LO HF.
