For the CMS Pixel Collaboration

The recent developments in the design of the CMS pixel detector will be reported. An update of the pixel coverage and the hit resolution is presented. The effect of the readout losses on the detector efficiency is shown. Some results concerning a stand-alone pixel track reconstruction capability are discussed.
