A ground receiiingphased array antenna system is described for tracking and communication with satellites in low earth orbif (LEO). Different active array antenna architectures and the minimum number of array elements for meeting the system G / T requirement are erjaluated and compared. A general noise temperature model is also deceloped for er;aluating any phased array antenna Vstem. Moreoi>er* this model is also useful for the design and planning of other receicing antenna systems on automobiles, ships, aircrajl satellites, et cetera.
