Recanalization in Femoral Arterial Occlusions I

We read the article by Bauriedel et al.
[ l ] with interest. The authors performed recanalization in 2 1 superficial femoral arterial occlusions (average angiographic length 42 ? 29 mm, range 9-109 mm). Seven (33%) lesions were crossed with a conventional guidewire. Twelve (86%) of the remaining 14 lesions were crossed successfully using the pliable distal tip of a sheath introducer. There were five complications (23.8%), including two major dissections and three local inguinal hematomas. Three of these required surgery. Overall intimal dissections occurred in 8/ 14
