✦ Synopsis

We show that every uncountable compact space has a realcompact subspace of size ω 1 , that if there are no S-spaces, then every uncountable Tychonoff space has a realcompact subspace of size ω 1 and that Ostazewski's space has no uncountable realcompact subspace.
