Abstract

The retroplacental clear area is a hypoechoic region at the placental‐endometrial interfece which is frequently demonstrated with high‐resolution equipment. During pulsed Doppler examination of the retroplacental clear area, venous signals were obtained in 26 of 27 cases. This is strong evidence that this region is composed of dilated veins.
