This well constructed volume provides the reader with an in-depth approach to radiology of the emergency patient. As with most multi-author texts, there is some overlap of information and variation in style of narrative. However, the atlas format is quite effective and most sections are easy to read, especially the 85 pages on the abdomen provided by the editor of this work. Chapter topics include skull and face, cervical spine, thoracic and lumbar spine, larynx and trachea, neck, chest, intensive care unit, abdomen, upper intestinal tract, endoscopic complications, colon and rectum, genitourinary tract, bone, CT and ultrasound in trauma, CT and ultrasound in the acute abdomen, angiography, nuclear medicine, and primary care of injuries. In addition to these 18 chapters are sections on law and the emergency patient, and systems of trauma care. The extensive well illustrated topics are supplemented by a 47-case quiz and a detailed index.
