Developed for both professional and home use, the new paint remover consists of two skids under which is mounted a G-E Calrod* tubular heater rated at 1000 watts, 115 volts. When the device is slid along a painted surface, the heat from the Calrod unit causes the paint to soften and blister and it can then be removed with a putty knife.

Old paint can be removed continuously as fast as the operator can scrape it off, according to G-E engineers. The skids keep the heat a safe and constant distance from the painted surface while two metal reflectors keep the plastic handle cool at all times.
