✦ Synopsis
The formation of coordination compounds of transition elements on the reactive hydrophilic copolymer glycidyl methacrylate--cthylenedimethacrylate, with chemically bonded ethylenediamine molecules, has been described. Particular attention has been paid to complexes of copper(l), and (II), cobalt(II) and (III), and iron(II) and (III), where the different degrees of oxidation of the central metallic elements lead to the formation of active and inactive compounds in magnetic measurements. Electronic paramagnetic resonance was chosen as a method providing direct proof of chemical bond between the metal and the polymeric chelating sorbent.
