✦ Synopsis

During the last 30 years the plastics industry has experienced enormous rates of growth. Due to an increasing demand for high performance plastic materials, the use of extruders as continuous flow reactors for polymers has attracted considerable attention in polymerization and polymer mod@caiion applications.

This paper is an attempt to present a survey of recent literature on the reactive extrusion of polymers. Experimental and modeling studies for various polymer systems are reviewed and some rheobgkai, modeling, and design aspects of reactive extrusion systems are addressed.
