✦ Synopsis

Rate coefficients for the total destruction, ktot =X-r + kq (kq is the rate coefficient for quenching collisions) and for rextiue colliiions, Xr,, have been obtained for the interactions of NZO;, u > 0) in the energ>' regime from thermal to OA and 1.5 cV. Ec_m_. respectively using a selected ion flow drift tube-Nearly all these rate coefficients show considembie cllangx as a function of energy_ Photoionization, electron impact or Penning ion&ation of molecular neutrals M normally result in the production of ions M+ not only in their ground state M+(X, u = 0) but also in ~~brationally escited states MifX. u > 0) or in electronic&y excited states [i--4]_ Vibrationally escited ions often have strongly different reactivities in collisions with neutral reactants compared with ions M+ (X, u = 0) and besides reactive collisions such as M+(X, u > 0) + R "-: ionic product other than M+
