The potential of partial least-squares regression (PLS) for resolution of binary mixtures by kinetic procedures is evaluated, both in a linear system as in the presence of a synergistic effect. Kinetic first order curves for the variation of the fluorescence intensity at a single wavelength were sim

β¦ Synopsis
If a partially segregated system is considered as a number of particles with an interdiffusion of chemical components according to an opportune exchange factor, it is possible to calculate the mean conversion of reactions with non linear kinetics by integrating the mass balances for each particle. From this point of view research was carried out on normal second-order reactions, 2A + products, with or without volume change, autocatalytic reactions and bimolecular reactions A + B + products, with reactants fed in separately. In a CSTR, segregation has a favourable effect on the mean conversion in the first two cases and an unfavourable effect in the latter two.
Moreover, it was shown that the size of the exchange factor may be correlated to parameters characteristic of the turbulence within the tank.
