✦ Synopsis
C,,H9N and SnBr, respectively. Ion m/e 179 shifts to m/e 182 in the spectrum of the trideuterated compound ( l a ) , while no shift is observed for m/e 199. Both ions are absent in low energy (12 eV) scans.
Ion m/e 199 is formed from the molecular ion by ejection of the metal-ligands followed by expulsion of a resonancestabilized radical (cf. Scheme I), as supported by the appropriate metastable peaks. The last step of this sequence requires migration of a bromine atom from the aromatic ring to the electron-deficient tin. ( 1 ) m , x -e,-CH,* ' m / e = 457.
