✦ Synopsis

8-Anilino-1-naphthalenesulfonate is a convenient probe for the conformational equilibria in the enzyme, which depend on the allosteric ligand GTP and coenzyme NADH, since the fluorescence of the bound dye is sensitive to the physical state of the protein[ll. The same system has been used to measure the rates of allosteric transitions. By fast reaction techniques these were shown to be biphasic, each phase representing some structural transitions in the enzyme with halflives of 20 and 200 msec [31.
