fact that ionization can predominate over electron capture in poorly designed detectors has been known for several years 2. However, there are not yet adequate data available to determine whether the ionization observed in our case was due to detector geometry or the presence of large amounts of oxygen. Preliminary experiments have shown that the electron capture detector might be used to detect and roughly estimate the concentration of large amounts of pesticides.
